What does a tire change price include, and why does it vary?

A price per wheel, a four-wheel set and tire remounting are different offers. Here is what to check before comparing workshop prices.

What does a tire change price include, and why does it vary?

Two workshops can quote different prices while describing different jobs. Before comparing the amount, find out exactly what will be done for it.

One wheel or the whole set?

Check whether the price covers one wheel or four. Changing complete wheels also differs from remounting tires on the same rims. The latter involves removing the old tires and fitting the other set, rather than simply swapping wheels on the vehicle.

Why do size and construction matter?

A large rim, low profile or Run Flat tire may require different work and equipment. A truck or van wheel is not the same as a small passenger car wheel either. Give the size and vehicle type before comparing quotes.

Are balancing and materials included?

Check balancing, weights, valves and any TPMS work. Repairing a rim or replacing a damaged valve may be a separate operation. Additional costs should be explained before the work is carried out.

What should you ask when booking?

  • Does the amount cover all four wheels?
  • Is it a complete wheel change or tire remounting?
  • Is balancing included, and which materials are covered?
  • Is it a final price, and what could change it?

For mobile service, ask about the travel charge separately. TAMIS lists current basic operations in its price list and agrees the particular job according to your vehicle and wheels.
